Spring Tactical
Anderson Park
March 29 & 30, 2008
After a long winter's vacation from reenacting, enjoy the fellowship of your reenacting friends, practice new scenarios and polish your impressions. This beautiful woodland park nestled along the east side of Anderson affords us some quality ground including forest and field. This site is like stepping back in time when nature was all around us and we depended on the resources to survive.
Bring your equipment as you would for an event. Your will find fellow reenactors to help show you how to put up a tent and practice life in the 1860’s without the public present. Bring clothing for cool nights for this campaign is in the early spring, and you should plan all of you meals for this event as there is not going to be a RACW dinner hosted at this event. There is fresh water on site. The RACW will provide firewood and sanitation facilities at the park. Parking areas will be designated so as to not interfere with camp life, battles and unit events.
Saturday will feature military and civilian training and will be on a schedule at the discretion of the unit commanders.
A RACW General Membership meeting will be held at lunch to approve bylaw changes and address any issues for the good of the order.
The Artillery will coordinate with infantry and civilians to provide safety instruction, typically in the later afternoon. This will be especially important to Newbies who have never been on the battlefield and need to understand safety distances from the cannon emplacements.
Subject to the training status of infantry and cavalry there are typically two skirmishes Saturday afternoon. Subject to interest, there may be hand to hand combat training (The brigade commanders will organize this as always).
Sunday will have church call at roughly 9:00 a.m. or so and then training and/or skirmishing will continue until early afternoon.
