The Reenactors of the American Civil War

Dry Creek Civil War Days

September 19-21, 2008

Clements Stampede Grounds, Clements, California

Directions

Schedule

The Field Artillery Reenactors Association (FARA), with the sponsorship of the RACW, and in cooperation with the Clements Buckaroos will again be holding the Dry Creek Civil War Event this year.

The Dry Creek Civil War Days allows the public a way to travel into the past and experience Living History, letting them see how life was during the Civil War years of 1861 to 1865. See how the soldiers of the Union and Confederate armies lived, explore their encampments and find out just how hard a life the men of the army had. The civilians in their town did not fair much better as many items like food and clothing were in short supply. And finally, bear witness as the two armies clash on the battlefield in an accurate portrayal of how warfare was conducted in the 19th century.

School Day

Friday September 19

This premier event will feature School Day presentations on Friday, September 19. Groups of local students will tour the camps, the first students arriving at 9:00 am. If you have participated in a school day, you know that these are worthwhile and rewarding events. If you have never been to one before, this is your chance to show students a glimpse of the Civil War not seen in history books. Make a maximum effort to attend this worthwhile educational occasion.

School Day participants may set up camps any time on Thursday, September 18.  Please have all camps de-farbed and all vehicles out of camp by 8:00 AM. If you arrive after that time, join in the presentations and set up afterwards. Please, no vehicles or farb in presentations areas until after students leave.

The weather should be dry and warm, with almost no chance of adverse weather to ruin the fun.
