The Reenactors of the American Civil War

Anderson Civil War Days

October 10-12, 2008

The Anderson Civil War Days are returning to Anderson River Park this November and will be one of the best events of the year.  Come join the members of the Reenactors of the American Civil War (RACW) and their guests as we celebrate the sacrifices and loyalty of the men and women who fought in America's Bloodiest War.  Yes, I did say women.

Student Day will take place on Friday the 9th as students from the surrounding schools will tour the event site in private instruction.  Tickets will be sold by the students and the schools will be able to keep half of the money raised for transportation costs.  A dollar will be charged to each student who attends Student Day, going to help the reenactors that have come from long distances.  This fee will also come out of the money raised by ticket sales.

The 10th and 11th will be our typical weekend event, with activities, presentations, and battles throughout the day.  The theme of the event this year will be centered around veterans and the work that they have done to maintain this country for the last 200+ years.  Saturday will feature two battles, roughly about the time of Manassas and Fredericksburg, respectively.  Sunday will be the battle proceeding Appomattox and the surrender with a special salute to the veterans of all wars.  Any veteran who comes in uniform on Saturday or Sunday will be admitted free and will be asked to participate in the honoring ceremony after the final battle on Sunday. Between these battles will be skits in the camps, presentations near the battle field, and a multitude of things to see and do.

We hope to have a tremendous turn out and hope Mother Nature will cooperate.   There is no better way to experience something than to see it in person and reenactments are the best way to do that.  See you at the event!

Fee:

$5.00 for adults
Children are free when accompany by an adult, so bring as many as you can, just make sure you can control them.
